BIO

Samuel was born in London in 1996 to a musical family and began playing the violin when he was five

Samuel was born in London in 1996 to a musical family and began playing the violin when he was five after a short-lived but enthusiastic career as a cellist. Aged eight he was awarded a place at the Yehudi Menuhin School where he studied with Natasha Boyarsky and Boris Kucharsky, also receiving classes in chamber music and improvisation from David Dolan. He is currently a pupil of Hungarian violinist and pedagogue András Keller at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London where he also studies the baroque violin with Pavlo Beznosiuk.

As a soloist he has performed concertos and recitals in France, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Ukraine and the USA as well as many major UK venues

As a soloist he has performed concertos and recitals in France, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Ukraine and the USA as well as many major UK venues including St.John’s Smith Square, the Wigmore Hall, Purcell Room, Brighton Pavilion, Menuhin Hall, Windsor Castle, Cadogan Hall and Milton Court and has performed live twice for ‘In Tune’ on BBC Radio Three. He has also appeared in several festivals worldwide including the Reims Festival, the Menuhin Festival (Gstaad), Sejong international music festival (Philadelphia), AIMS festival (Catalonia), Langvad chamber music jamboree (Denmark) and the International Musicians Seminar in Prussia Cove.

Also a keen orchestral musician, Samuel has performed as concert master with the Orion Orchestra, Orpheus Sinfonia and the AIMS chamber orchestra.

Since 2017 he has been the Artistic Director of the Alderney Chamber Music Festival which he runs each summer with his younger sister Louisa.

Samuel would like to thank the Albert & Eugenie Frost Trust for their continued support of his studies and the Kucharsky family for the generous loan of their beautiful Neapolitan Violin, c.1780.

We hope you can join us between the 29th August and the 2nd September 2018, as we return for what promises to be an exciting weekend of music-making.
